Job Title: AGRONOMIST
No. Of Post: 2 (Two)
Duty Station: NaCRRI – Namulonge, Wakiso District.
Age Limit: Not above 35 years.
Terms and Overall Responsibilities:
* The positions will have a three year work period after three months of probation period, and they are renewable. Successful applicants of the above positions shall be required to independently employ their broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in rice cultivation. May have opportunities of training on rice technology in Japan or in relevant countries. Shall routinely carry out research and training in NaCRRI and other related institutes with other researchers and technicians. Applicants who like field activities are preferred.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Implement research methodologies for rice production and manage experimental fields. Study and develop appropriate crop, water and soil management technologies. Study on weeds and nutrient mining on crap yield, diseases and insect pests. Rice seed purification, multiplication and management.
* Disseminate study results through farmer feedback workshops, training workshops and seminars, newsletters, journals, reports, media, field days and agricultural shows.
* Offer training to farmers, extension personnel, university students and interested parties on rice improvement and management.
Requirement:
Minimum Qualifications:
* Applicants should hold at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture or any other related field with research experience In agronomy.
* Should possess good skills in experimental design, data collection, analysis, interpretation and report writing.
* Possession of a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
