Trócaire is an Irish non-profit relief and development agency head-quartered in Ireland. Trócaire works in solidarity with local development actors in over 28 countries to bring about positive and lasting change.
Trócaire Horn and East Africa Regional Office in Nairobi is responsible for 5 countries namely Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda.
In Somalia, Trócaire is implementing health, nutrition and education programmes in South- Central Somalia.
Trócaire Somalia Country Programme intends to advertise the following positions:
Policy, Advocacy & Communications Officer
The position:
The role is to develop and manage Trócaire Somalia advocacy strategies towards the different stakeholders as well as to prepare and edit different written publications.
Competencies:
- Masters degree in a relevant subject.
- At least five years’ experience of working with an international organization.
- Experience of delivering advocacy work in complex and politically sensitive environments.
- Ability to analyze and summarize complex issues clearly for different audiences.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Computer competency in main Windows applications.
- Familiarity with global justice, development conflict, peace building, human rights, humanitarian advocacy issues and IHL. Knowledge of the Somalia socio-economic, political and humanitarian environment is desirable.
- Knowledge of Irish/European government and institutions and policies relating to Somalia is essential.
All positions require a proficiency in both written and oral English; strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan, organize and implement various activities within an agreed time and must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
