About Peace Corps: Peace Corps are an international community-based development agency Volunteers work throughout Tanzania in the areas of Health, Environment and Education in Math, Science & English.
Position Elements
· The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, development implementation and administration of Peace Corps Tanzania's Secondary Education program including training and support for Volunteers throughout Tanzania.
· The Secondary Education Program aims at improving the quality of Secondary Education in Tanzania through the provision of teachers in hard to fill subjects, and by incorporating cutting edge methods into teacher portfolio The position has primary responsibility to identify and prepare Volunteer sites at teacher trainer colleges and secondary schools for volunteer teachers in math, science, and English as a foreign language. Sites are located across Tanzania mainland as well as Zanzibar.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in Education, or related field (specialization in any math, science and Englil language or related to education policy and administration). Masters degree preferred.
· Five years experience, including supervisory experience in the field of education. Experience in developing, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of education activities; Experience in design and facilitation of training events and developing materials with emphasis on training teachers.
· Knowledge of cutting edge teaching methodology; including classroom and adult education techniques, gender analysis, community analysis and project management.
· Up-to-date knowledge of Tanzanian education system, relevant, ministries, programs, policies and resources both in mainland Tanzania as well as Zanzibar.
· Demonstrated skill in report and proposal writing, development of statements of work, policy guidelines, and public speaking.
· Demonstrated skills in counseling, including the ability to empathize with and motivate adults.
· Knowledge of community-based training, design and implementation preferred.
· Language: Level IV (Fluent) spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
· Ability to use Microsoft Office (including MSWord, Excel and Power-point) required.
