Lead Pipeline Engineer
Summary:
A residential position based in Doha, Qatar.
Maersk Oil Qatar AS is the leading oil producer offshore Qatar and a recognized pioneer in oil development and production techniques. On the basis of an Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) signed in 1992 with Qatar Petroleum, Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) is the sole operator of the Al Shaheen Field and presently engaged in one of the largest oil projects in the world with capital investments of approx. 6 billion USD, called FDP 2005, comprising the drilling of more than 160 additional production and water injection wells. The current oil production from the Al Shaheen Field is approx. 330,000 barrels/day.
Purpose:
The Team:
The Pipeline section forms part of the ’Structures and Pipelines’ Department onshore. The ’Structures and Pipelines’ Department is responsible for the design integrity of new and existing jackets, topside and pipeline facilities.
The Pipeline section is responsible for design and integrity of new as well as existing pipelines and provides specialist technical supports to other departments.
The Position:
As a Senior Pipeline Engineer you must be able to develop strategies and concepts; lead others and provide engineering solutions. You will be a senior member of a strong team of professionals, and will be expected to inspire your colleagues and through your experience, provide support and inspiration to the Department and Company as a whole. You will be working closely together with experienced engineers in an internationally inspiring and dynamic environment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Technical Authority on pipeline design and operation.
- Run and further develop a Pipeline Integrity Management System
- Develop operational boundaries for pipeline operation
- Develop performance standards for pipelines
- Monitor the pipeline operation.
- Prepare and issue annual pipeline status report
- Support development of design basis for new pipelines
- Development of pipeline design and reanalysis guidelines
- Development of calculation methods and design criteria
- Provide input to the planning of subsea and corrosion inspections
- Project Engineering and Management for internal projects
Education and Experience:
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. Engineering
- Applicable post-graduate technical qualification is preferred but not essential
- Minimum of 10 years relevant offshore pipeline design and maintenance experience.
Skill Set and Competencies:
The successful candidate must be a leading team player experienced with pipeline design and maintenance capable of leading and guiding others. The candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English and be able to prove experience within the below areas:
- Detailed design and reanalysis of pipelines
- Experience with material selection and welding of pipelines
- Fully conversant with DNV-OS F101 and relevant offshore design codes
- Experience with providing innovative and/or best practice design solutions
- Technical report writing
- Working and developing solutions with little or no supervision
Self motivated, creative, analytical and independent with an outstanding knowledge of pipeline engineering, including appurtenances. Motivated by technical challenges, able to engage yourself and lead others, retain an open mind and a strong urge to seek new challenges. Good proficiency in both verbal and written English and understanding the value of open two-way communication is a pre-requisite
