Post: Specialist/ Film, Video and Cinematography
Reports to: Manager Content Regulation
Role: Evaluate film operators’ compliance to the license conditions issued by UCC/BC in line with UCC/ BC’s mandate and implement the regulatory function provided for by Law.
Key Results Areas
Examine and assess license applications and related documents to determine the licensing eligibility of the applicants according to the international best practices and standards;
Conceptualize, design and develop Film, Video & Cinematography projects in line with UCC/BC’s mandate;
Develop methods to enhance enforcement and compliance to copy right laws related to production, distribution and exhibition of films;
Ensure compliance of operators to set rules and guidelines/ standards in line with the Body’s mandate;
Review and develop applications procedures/guidelines for licensing of the film operators in accordance with the Body’s mandate;
Develop and monitor the frameworks to streamline the film activities in the Sector;
Analyze and assess the film production, distribution and exhibition plans of the different operators and advise on information required for billing purposes as appropriate;
Participate in research for the film industry so as to handle issues relating to innovation and improvement of the industry in terms of technological developments; and
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or Fine Art in Film with specialization in audio visual production or other related field;
A Master’s Degree in Cinematography or equivalent field is an added advantage.
Experience and knowledge
At least 3 years experience in the related field;
Knowledge in audiovisual production and compatibility issues for MAC, PC, across major browsers;
Excellent communication skills
Character
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Strong problem solving abilities
Imagination and creativity
Accurate and detail oriented
Employment Terms:
The successful candidate for the advertised position will sign a three-year renewable employment contract with the Body.
