Assistant Programme Coordinators - Southern Highlands Programme



Restless Development Tanzania (www.restlessdevelopment.org) is the leading youth-led development agency and we are looking for dynamic, committed and passionate staff to assist in the delivery and coordination of our programmes in the Southern Highlands regions of Mbeya, Iringa and Ruvuma. Working with rural-based communities throughout the regions, our programmes build the capacity of communities to respond to the challenges facing young people around our three core strategic objective areas of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRH and R), livelihoods and employment, and civic participation.

With significant time spent in the field, and an emphasis on ensuring effective working relationships with our stakeholders, partners, volunteers and young people that we work with, this is a key position within our programmes team, responsible for the quality delivery of programmes in the placements where we work. You will be a practical, solution-focussed individual, committed to delivering high standard programmes, ensuring that sharing and learning best practice from colleagues in the staff team filter to our programme delivery on the ground. This is a significant role in our programmes team, essential for the achievement of our new strategic direction launched in 2011. Each Assistant Programme Coordinator will be expected to lead learning on one of the strategic objective areas within their regional office – representing an excellent opportunity for capacity building of the individual staff member concerned.

Assistant Programme Coordinator – Next Generation Programme (Youth Entrepreneurship and Capacity Building)

Restless Development Tanzania (www.restlessdevelopment.org) is the leading youth-led development agency and we are looking for dynamic, committed and passionate individual to assist in the delivery and coordination of our Next Generation Leaders Programme led through the Dar es Salaam Programme Office.

Working with disadvantaged young people in urban settings including youth camps, youth led enterprises and youth groups (with a special focus on excluded groups), you will coordinate our support to the youth sector identifying and coordinating business development opportunities for these groups as well as leading training and advice to these groups in strengthening their businesses and organisations. You will provide technical advice and support under the direction of the Next Generation Leaders Programme Manager, to support Southern Highlands regional programmes to expand their work with youth groups and enterprises in urban settings.

You will be a practical, solution-focussed individual, committed to delivering high standard programmes, ensuring that sharing and learning best practice from colleagues in the staff team filter to our programme delivery on the ground. You will have a background in entrepreneurship and small business development, and exposure to organisational development. This is a significant role in our programmes team, essential for our new strategic plan 2011-2015.

Assistant Programme Coordinator – Next Generation Leaders Programme Focus: Former Volunteers Network and Careers

Restless Development Tanzania (www.restlessdevelopment.org) is the leading youth-led development agency and we are looking for dynamic, committed and passionate individual to assist in the delivery and coordination of our Next Generation Leaders Programme led through the Dar es Salaam Programme Office.

Working with our former volunteers, young people from disadvantaged communities in and out of school (including a special focus on excluded groups), and key external partners, you will coordinate our engagement work with our former volunteers and our activities to create meaningful career development opportunities for young people which contribute to their ambitions and to national development goals in Tanzania. You will work directly with our former volunteer networks in Dar and Dodoma, but will also lead on advising and supporting regional programme offices in the Southern Highlands to activate their networks. You will provide support and advice across the country programme on careers development under the direction and leadership of the Next Generation Leaders Programme Manager.

Programme Coordinator - Mbeya

Restless Development Tanzania (www.restlessdevelopment.org) is the leading youth-led development agency. We have been working in Tanzania since 1993 and have established an impressive track record in delivering grassroots impact through youth led development programmes aligned to the Government of Tanzania’s poverty reduction plans and Millennium Development Goals. We are entering an ambitious new strategic plan from 2011-2015 focused in the areas of sexual reproductive health and rights, livelihoods and employment, and civic participation. We are looking for a talented and experienced programme coordinator to manage our regional programme in Mbeya. Working with rural communities, young people and local stakeholders throughout the region, your role will be to oversee our youth led programme delivered through national and community volunteering in the goal areas, and ensuring integration of policy monitoring and advocacy, youth sector coordination and partnerships, and sharing of good practice across all our projects.

This is a key position within our programmes team, and you will be responsible for meeting programme quality standards for your unit. You will be a committed and talented individual with a background in community development and working with young people. You will contribute to programme planning, implementation and review with the programmes management team, and proactively share your expertise to strengthen our Southern Highlands programme. Next Generation Leaders Programme Manager
(Based in Dar es Salaam, with regular in-country travel)

Restless Development is the leading youth-led development agency working in Africa and South Asia. We are seeking an outstanding programmes manager to join our team in Tanzania and to oversee our next generation leaders programme which works closely with our former volunteers and young people out of school in disadvantaged urban settings across Tanzania.

We are entering an ambitious new strategic plan from 2011-2015. This role lead on developing our programme strategy for working with our national alumni and working with young people out of school in particular youth camps. You will lead a young talented team focusing on policy and advocacy, youth entrepreneurship and youth group capacity building, and careers and employment development, and helping our talented alumni to continue making significant contributions to development beyond volunteering with us.

You will be an experienced programmes manager with experience in community development, advocacy, and working with young people as clients and agents of change in development. You will be a strong communicator (verbal and written), with experience in representation at a high level with government and civil society partners. You will be personally committed to the promotion of youth led development and empowerment of women and girls. You will be a talented individual who will be part of our Management Committee, and will proactively engage in supporting leadership of the organisation. Within this body you will provide technical advice on programmes. The Management Committee will work closely with you to ensure they and their teams meet all key performance objectives in relation to your area of work.

Southern Highlands Programme Manager Tanzania

(Iringa based with regular in-country travel)

Restless Development is the leading youth-led development agency working in Africa and South Asia. We are seeking an outstanding programmes manager to join our team in Tanzania. You will oversee our programmes in Iringa, Ruvuma and Mbeya. Working with a talented team of programme coordinators heading each regional unit, and operating in over 70 placement communities with approximately 130 community and national volunteers, you will be a strong in volunteer management and support, and programme development and partnerships. We are entering an ambitious new strategic phase from 2011-2015, and this role will lead on providing management support across the Southern Highlands programme, ensuring consistency in all aspects of programme design and delivery across the programme, piloting and sharing of good practices, increasing our impact in newer thematic areas (civic participation and livelihoods), and strengthening our existing work in sexual and reproductive health and rights.

This programme is developed around the ‘direct delivery’ approach in which Restless Development identifies, recruits, and trains young Tanzanians as expert volunteers to support local stakeholders to implement community based initiatives through a peer education approach in the areas of SRHR, livelihoods and employment, and civic participation. From this, we are now increasing our work policy monitoring and advocacy, engaging our alumni in rural communities, and strengthening partnerships with local government and local civil society.

You will be an experienced programme manager with expertise is community based development, volunteer management, and with strong work-based experience in at least two of our development goals. You will have experience working with excluded target groups. You will be committed to ensuring participatory approaches in all aspects of programme development, and will ensure involvement of your team, our volunteers, partners and stakeholders. You will maintain the highest standards in programme quality and financial management. You will be committed to youth led development, and be part of our Management Committee.

Youth Policy and Advocacy Coordinator Tanzania

We have been working in Tanzania since 1993 and have established an impressive track record in delivering grassroots impact through youth led development programmes aligned to the Government of Tanzania’s poverty reduction plans and Millennium Development Goals. We are entering an ambitious new strategic plan from 2011-2015 focused in the areas of sexual reproductive health and rights, livelihoods and employment, and civic participation. We are seeking a talented and motivated Youth Policy and Advocacy Coordinator to lead our policy and advocacy efforts.

Your role will support Restless Development to develop a clear advocacy strategy which places young people as positive agents of change in Tanzania within the goal areas, and to support strategic partnerships with government and civil society. You will work closely with our rural and national teams to bring evidence based learning and research into the policy making environment enabling Restless Development to influence policy and practice. You will train and coach our staff, volunteers, partners and stakeholders to participate more effectively in policy and advocacy processes from community to national level in Tanzania.

You will be a talented individual who is committed to youth led development and passionate about promoting participatory approaches to advocacy. You will have previous experience in working in policy analysis, advocacy, and youth participation in decision making (or other target groups). You will be an excellent communicator (verbal and written) in English and Swahili, and will demonstrate confidence and tact in working with our stakeholders. You will be a talented self starter who can work as part of a team, and be committed to our mission and values.

Finance and Administration Manager, Restless Development Tanzania (Based in Iringa Head Office with regular in-country travel)

Approx gross salary: 21,984,712Tsh per annum or Net = 15,069,744Tsh per annum Restless Development is the leading youth-led development agency working in Africa and South Asia. We are seeking an outstanding finance manager to join our talented team in Tanzania. We are entering an ambitious new strategic plan from 2011-2015, and this role will lead on all aspects financial management and accounting within the organisation ensuring transparency and accountability by meeting Restless Development compliance standards.

This role will involve maintaining oversight of our income, cash flows, accounting, and financial practices across four offices in Tanzania (Iringa, Mbeya, Ruvuma and Dar Es Salaam). With the support of a talented team of five finance staff you will work closely with the programmes directorate ensure high quality operational and project budgets are developed, and managed. You will work closely with the Country Director, Fundraising Partnerships Manager and Senior Manager of Programmes to ensure highest standards in donor budget submissions and financial reporting.

You will be an experienced finance manager, preferably a fully or part qualified management accountant. You will have previous experience of human resource management and capacity building, including distance support preferably within the NGO sector. You will be a talented individual who adapts easily in a changing environment. As part of our Management Committee you will provide technical advice financial management and planning. You will be committed to strengthening value for money, and in upholding our mission and values.
