Scholarship by the Japanese Government
(Monbukagakusho: MEXT Scholarship Program)
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT; in Japanese "Monbukagakusho") of Japan offers Tanzanian students 4 types of scholarship to study at Japanese universities or colleges: Research students, Undergraduate Students, Specialized Training College Students and Japanese Studies Students.
For scholarship in 2017, follow the instruction below for each scholarship and apply by Friday 27th May 2016 either by post or by hand addressed to the culture section. Address of the Embassy

Tentative Schedule 2016-2017
Research Students
*5 students sent to Japan lat year- Duration: 2 Years (including 6 months of Japanese language training), extendable with permission from the university and Japanese Government (Duration will be extended accordingly to the length of course, Normally in Japan, Master courses are two years, PhD are three years (four years for medical, dentistry, veterinary and some pharmaceutical courses)).
- Departure for Japan: First week of April or September / October 2017
- Age: Applicant must have been born on or after 2 April 1982.
- Qualification: Applicant must have graduated from undergraduate studies.

Undergraduate Students
- Duration: 5 Years (including 1 year of Japanese language training) or 4 Years (without Japanese language training), 7 Years for medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and pharmacy (with 6 years course) (including 1 year of Japanese language training)
- Departure for Japan: First week of April 2016
- Age: Applicant must have been born between 2 April 1995 and 1 April 2000.
- Qualification: Applicant must have graduated from A Level Secondary School by March 2017.

Specialized Training College Students
- Duration: 3 Years (including 1 year of Japanese language training)
- Departure for Japan: First week of April 2017.
- Age: Applicant must have been born between 2 April 1995 and 1 April 2000.
- Qualification: Applicant must have graduated from A Level Secondary School by March 2017.

Japanese Studies Students
Recruitment will be done through the University of Dodoma (UDOM) for the students majoring in Japanese language studies.
