POSITION 1: PROJECT ACCOUNTANT

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Accountant will assist the Senior Finance Manager in accounting, financial, and administrative functions for projects in Tanzania by maintaining accounting records and providing adequate accounting information and ensures the same is maintained in accordance with the laid down policies and procedures of the organization and in accordance with International Accounting Standards.
Other duties will include assisting in the process of accounting transactions, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, banking, grant management, and compliance with Heifer policies and donor requirements.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES.
• Management of all finances and preparation of project financial reports
• Assisting the Senior Finance Manager in proper maintenance of accounting system and posting of transactions on daily basis. Responsible for accounting (controlling all accounts on daily and monthly basis).
• Preparation and maintenance of cash flow
• Preparation of projects’ finance management reports and reviewing with the project managers
• Responsible for proper tax computation (proper calculation of the taxes and their timely submission)
• Responsible for tax exemption/withholding procedures and verification of suppliers invoices before payment.
• Budgeting for projects at Field offices.
• Facilitate the procurement process in the procurement committee for project related procurements.
• Maintenance of staff imprest accounts.
• Training of Partners on financial management and Logistics during field visits
• Responsible for preparation of the accounting for annual audit or audits organized by the donors.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and documentation as and when required by Heifer International according to the respective donor standards.
• Play a supportive role in the annual projects budgeting process.
• Prepare financial reports and documentation if required for projects closure and audit purposes.
• Collect and facilitate review of special reports for internal control.
• Ensure the maintenance of an accurate and up to date fixed asset register
• Perform other related duties as required

• Ensure proper management of Original Placements of Livestock and Passing on the Gift from the same and Other Resources,

• Recommend project budget adjustments based on field realities within approved budget
• Ensure proper management of Heifer assets and other resources according to policies and procedures in force

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: A day-to-day vehicle management of the office. This includes to perform minor service and repairs on Heifer Tanzania vehicles and responsible for managing and maintaining a sound procurement vehicle management system in accordance with the Heifer International policy works and services.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Responsible for the vehicle assigned to him as per conditions laid down on the use of Heifer International vehicles.
• Responsible for making sure that the vehicle is parked at the office premises if not in use and at a safe place else where while on an approved trip.
• To always have a log book per trip
• To ensure that fuel and maintenance costs are well recorded
• Responsible for making timely vehicle service and maintenance
• Responsible to prepare vehicle repairs and services orders for Senior Logistic Officer’s / Senior Driver approval
• Advise Senior Logistic Officer/ Senior Driver on all vehicle maintenance and repairs before actual work is carried out
• Responsible to observe and follow rules and regulations governing the maintenance and operation of motor vehicles as per Heifer International Vehicle Policy
• Keep sound and adequate vehicle records for monthly vehicle report compilation by Senior Logistic Officer/ Senior Driver.

• Ensure security measures for vehicles such as parking, storage of keys, emergency supplies, etc.
