We are seeking applicants for the role of Finance Manager based in Arusha, Tanzania at The School of St Jude. St Jude's is a charity funded school that provides FREE high quality education to approximately 1,800 primary and secondary children from the poorest communities in Arusha. St Jude's has experienced rapid growth and is currently strengthening its management structure.
The Finance Manager is responsible for managing and further developing the financial systems for our organisation and heads a team of six personnel. This exciting role is ideal for the more experienced qualified financial professional with management experience who is now able to take time out and looking for their next challenge.
A minimum commitment of at least two years is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all finance related areas; accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital spending, budgeting, financial reporting and purchasing.
- Present monthly financial reports for EAF & TSOSJ Board and senior managers
- Control all inventory for the school, including; food, stationary, maintenance & garage supplies
- Prepare the IAS/IFRS compliant financial report annually.
- Complete the annual audit and all other compliance matters
- Check reconciled bank statements and petty cash monthly
- Regular checking of QuickBooks to make sure account code classifications are correct.
- Prepare the annual capital and operating budget.
- Continue to develop the accounting and financial management skills of the local staff, building confidence and instilling a strong sense of direction among the team;
Key attributes skills, qualifications and experience
- Qualified CA/CPA
- Experience managing and small team
- Minimum 7 years working as a professional accountant
- Experience in using QuickBooks
- Strong computer skills in particular Microsoft suite
- Previous experience in working in a NGO (preferred)m
- Experience in working in a developing country (preferably Africa)
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills;
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a challenging environment.

Living Allowance:
