Responsibilities
• In charge of all staff under consultancy operations unit of CityPlan,
includes but not limited to Town Planner; Infrastructure Planner; and
Environmental Specialists;
• Supervisor and in charge of all consultancy work under CityPlan
Consultants (T) Limited.
• Liaise with internal and external partners to identify relevant and eligible projects for execution.
• Monitor CityPlan project milestones to avoid delays and potential project cancellation;
Support the executing partner in mobilizing co-financing for the projects under CityPlan supervision.
• Prepare project supervision plans for all CityPlan projects under his/her portfolio for their entire duration and periodically update them;
Organize and manage the project inception meeting with a view to ensure project implementation readiness;
• Monitor project progress and performance and rate progress towards meeting project objectives, project execution progress, quality of project monitoring and evaluation, and risk;
• Monitor reporting by project executing partners and provide prompt feedback on the content of the report;
• Inform management of any significant risks or project problems and take action and follow-up on decisions made;
• Prepare reports in accordance with CityPlan and international standard requirements;
• Maintain adequate project-related documentation;
•Cooperate in the “quality of project supervision assessment”;
•Review project outputs, provide technical input and ensure quality standards are met; Ensure accuracy and completeness of project data in the project information system for all projects under his/her supervision;
• Participate and contribute to any events organized by CityPlan or other development partner to disseminate information on project results and lessons.
• Offer training and professional or expert advice on area related to land and environmental management.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Group Managing Director
Competencies
Professionalism: Knowledge of the CityPlan system and familiarity with the CityPlan core activities is an advantage. Capacity to source and develop new concepts and projects for funding, and supervise an existing portfolio of projects under implementation. Practical experience in dealing with government authorities and other project stakeholders and ability to undertake research and draft project proposals. Ability to consult and build consensus around project ideas.
Ability to apply judgment in the context of assignment given, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Education
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in project management, urban planning, engineering management or related fields. Registered as Town Planner or Environmental Specialists or both
Working Experiences
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project supervision, consultancy, training and related fields. Experience in projects related to land development is desirable. Knowledge of CityPlan areas of professional activities is desired
Language
English and Swahili are the working language of CityPlan group. For this post, fluency in written and oral English is required.
