Org. Setting and Reporting

This post is located in the Television Section of News and Content Branch, News and Media Division under the Department of Public Information. The incumbent reports directly to the Chief of Television Section.

Television Section creates television products for international distribution, including “United Nations in Action”, “21st Century”, video documentaries, public service announcements, short features and video materials, as well as edited raw material for use by broadcasters to promote issues of concern to the United Nations, its conferences and events.

Education

Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) in communications, journalism, film and television or related areas. A first level university degree in combination with additional two (2) years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in television production and script writing for broadcast (both short and long formats) at the national and international level is required. Experience with the latest technical developments and production techniques is required. Experience filming and producing in international settings with taping studio elements with on air talent, senior UN Officials and experts on UN priorities is desirable. Experience with new internet and web-based platforms is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
