Support for International Change (www.sichange.org) is seeking an energetic, motivated, organized, collaborative, and creative individual for our Program Officer job opening in Arusha, Tanzania.
The Program Officer's responsibilities will be wide-ranging and will include (but not be limited to):
-Overall responsibility for all financial functions of the office including maintaining and improving financial systems including cash disbursement and monthly accounting, financial reporting to donors and the executive team, annual budgets, ensuring all labor and NGO requirements are met.
-Overall responsibility for SIC Volunteer Programs, including development, planning, execution and evaluation of service-learning programs for Tanzanian and international volunteers.
-Manage the administrative duties of human resources to ensure SIC is complying with contractual and governmental requirements.
-Contribute to relationships and requirements of external donors (reporting, site visits, communication).
-Lead in-country development of social media content.
-Work with staff to maintain and improve high quality monitoring and evaluation of programs.
-Develop systems that will lead to more efficient operations in areas such as supplies and scheduling.
-Assist the SIC Tanzania Programs Manager in supervising the smooth running of general SIC operations
-Participate in strategic planning meetings and conferences both internal and external.
-Perform any other tasks designated by the Executive Director in the US, and the Programs Manager in Tanzania.
Compensation and Benefits:The Program Officer position is compensated with a living stipend and one-round trip ticket per year between their home country and Tanzania (If an applicant is currently outside Tanzania). Resident permit costs will be covered by SIC.
Desired Qualifications:
– Bachelor Degree (education, community development, global studies, social sciences, sociology, public health, or public policy highly desired); Masters Degree preferred but not required
– Previous experience working with community development and/or rural communities.
– Experience with grant writing, monitoring and evaluation, participatory tools, accounting and program management a plus
– Strong with Microsoft Office package, other statistical software
– Strong writing and proofreading skills
– Ability to multitask and prioritize work flows
– Ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively with a multinational team
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– High proficiency in English, both spoken and written. Swahili language skills for non-Tanzanian applicants preferred.
