Programme Officer – Schools Water and Sanitation (SWASH)
Under the guidance of the Programme Coordinator, the post holder will support the development and management of school water, sanitation and hygiene (SWASH) projects in Tanzania. The primary role of the Programmes Officer will include supporting the identification and design of new projects, proposal writing, monitoring and evaluation of projects and relationship management with all partners.
The post holder will support financial management across their respective projects and develop good relationships with local government authorities and local NGOs to fulfil these aims.
Essential education/ experience:
- BSc Environmental Engineering, or Public Health Engineering or Public Health, or equivalent level of experience.
- Sociology or related social sciences degree with experience working with technical projects.
- Registered with professional bodies in Tanzania.

Programme Officer – Urban WASH
The post holder will organise, supervise and monitor the implementation of innovative approaches and technologies to improve WASH conditions in schools in partnership with Local Government Authorities and local NGOs in delivering water and sanitation initiatives in urban areas. The post holder will also provide support in documenting outcomes from the initiatives and draw lessons to support sector engagement.
Essential education/previous experience of successful candidate:
- Bachelor of Sciences in economics or Bachelor of Arts in business administration or Bachelor of Commerce in accountancy and business management /or equivalent level of experience.
- Minimum of three years hands on experience in micro-financing project management.
- Extensive knowledge experience of facilitating development projects, including working with private sector, community-based organisations and government institutions
This role requires an experienced Programme Officer with strong track record in supporting projects in a challenging environment. You must have a good understanding of public health and community development.

Programme Officer – Small Towns WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene)
The post holder will build the capacity of local partners to plan and pilot integrated WASH technologies and systems in small town areas. This will involve offering technical support to the Local Government Authorities and NGO partners to design and deliver effective water supply systems. These systems will be targeted to poor people, and address solid and liquid waste management, as well as improved hygiene.
Essential education/previous experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil engineering, water and sanitation, environmental engineering, or equivalent level of experience.
- Registered with ERB and member of IET.
- Minimum three years hands-on experience of micro financing project management.
You must have excellent experience of design, planning, development, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting and have a successful record of dealing with complicated programme partnerships.

Programme Officer – Water and Sanitation
The post holder will be responsible for technical support in both the small towns and rural areas, so ensure that services are delivered to the standard and quality defined by the Government of Tanzania. You will work with national and local governments, the private sector and other NGOs to develop innovative water supply, hardware delivery and water resource management, as well as innovative sanitation delivery and promotion.
Essential education/previous experience:
- BSc in Engineering, water resource engineering, public health engineering or environmental health sciences, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum three years hands-on experience in project management.
- Extensive knowledge experience of facilitating development projects, including working with private sector, community-based organisations and government institutions.
- Good experience of using participatory skills in WATSAN implementation .
- Broad knowledge of water resource management issues and its links to sustainable water and sanitation delivery.
- Good understanding of the health and sanitation sectors, and their challenges.
The People and Organisational Development Manager will support employee engagement, internal communication, and coaching managers. The post holder will also manage systems and processes to embed initiatives and deliver the People agenda from the global people strategy.
The successful People and Organisational Development Manager will have:
- Experience of operating at a similar level of responsibility.
- The ability to work with remote management and act independently.
- A strong HR generalist background, HR management qualification preferred
- Very strong communicator and the ability to influence key stakeholders.
- Experience of managing human resources administration
- Experience of managing different employee relations issues.
The position requires significant contact with individuals at all levels and the post holder will be an influential and innovative person able to support major organisational change through persuasion, coordination and explanation.
Previous experience of being in a standalone HR Manager is preferred, ideally in a global organisation.
