The Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) is the premier Bar Association of Tanzania Mainland, founded in 1954 and governed by the Tanganyika Law Society Act, Cap 307 R.E. 2002. The TLS is a professional association for Lawyers in Mainland Tanzania with the prime objective of promoting the rule of law by representing its members' interests and by advising the government and the general public on matters pertaining to law, human rights and access to justice.
The Society, taking cognizance of its dynamic membership and the ever evolving law practice environment, wishes to recruit a new team of secretariat members to ensure service delivery excellence. The TLS seeks to fill the vacancy:-
Overview:
Working closely with the Manager - Finance and Administration and Programme officers under the direct supervision of the CEO, the Communication and System Administrator (CSA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure within the TLS. This individual manages the technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the TLS-ICT infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures promote organizational values, facilitating staff, TLS members, partners and stakeholders. This individual will also be responsible for supporting the effective communication ofTLS across different mediums, as w£ I as through the design, production and distribution of communication materials.
Key Responsibilities:
J. Engineering of systems-related solutions for various programs at TLS;
2. Perform daily system and security monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups;
3. Perform periodic backup operations; file archival and purge; investigate and troubleshoot computer and network problems; Repair and recover from hardware or software failures; Create, change and delete user accounts per request;
4. Apply operating system upgrades on a regular basis,and upgrade administrative tools and utilities; Maintain operational, configuration or other procedures;
5. Design and produce high quality communication materials, including website content, and effectively communicate these across key audiences; Ensure that the TLS website is up to date, accurate, compelling and functional; Ensure timely and effective dissemination of information outputs from all TLS programs and projects through the TLS website; and ensure accurate integration of data between TLS membership database and the website.
6. Develop, coordinate and maintain an effective blogs and social media presence for the TLS in Kiswahili and English as appropriate; and
7. Undertake any other tasks as may be assigned the supervisor.
Qualification and Experience:
t. A Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent. Relevant professional qualifications are
an added advantage.
2. At least three years of relevant working experience in designing, developing and maintaining ICT systems
3. Willingness to work a flexible schedule when required
