Communication and outreach officer , HakiMadini

HakiMadini is a social justice NGO working within extractive sector; advancing the rights of small scale miners and mining communities in Tanzania.

We are looking for a politically conscious, results-oriented, creative, confident and self motivated person able to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.

Readiness for travel at short notice and ability to work under pressure  is a plus.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Communication and Outreach officer
Work Station: Arusha with travel time
Overall Responsibility:
•ill be responsible for coordinating overall communication strategy implementation.
•Establish mechanisms to ensure creative, dynamic and regular internal communications;
•As the first point of information for the Organisation, ensure accurate, clear, timely and effective information dissemination.

Specific Responsibilities:
Content Production
1. Produce high quality communication materials for key audiences in Kiswahili and English;
2. Ensure quality assurance on Policy, briefs, E-Newsletter, Power point presentations and other publicity materials;
3. Create popular prints, broadcasts and radio programs to advance objectives of HakiMadini.
Website and Social Media
1. Develop and maintain interactive social media presence in the social media i.e FaceBook,Twitter,Blogs,Instagram and other means as appropriate)
2. Ensure a functional, relevant and dynamic HakiMadini website that commands followership.
Outreach work
1. Develop and maintain good relations with the mainstream media and other information platforms.
2. Support Policy advocacy, social justice campaigns and community outreach.
3. Assist Program Manager to document HakiMadini and local partners’ experiences and lessons.

Education, skills and experience
• Minimum of university degree in a relevant fields;
• Atleast two years of relevant working experience on communications and media;
• Excellent command of both spoken and written Kiswahili and English;
• Strong analytical and organizational skills;
• Computer proficiency including web-based applications;
• Keen understanding of traditional media, social media and uses of new technologies.
• Ability to be on top of issues and deliver quality on time.
