Purpose of the role
The purpose of a Placement Coordinator’s role is to ensure that hospital placements run in line with operations guidelines. In particular you will be there to ensure that there is a close working relationship between Gap Medics and individual hospital mentors, that every student is properly introduced to his or her placement every week and that any problems or issues are dealt with promptly and effectively.
Key responsibilities
Ensuring that students hospital placements run effectively, under the direction of the Programme Manager. This involves working closely with hospitals and hospital staff at all levels.
Other duties
In addition to your key responsibilities, Placement Coordinators are likely to have a role in airport pick-ups, local orientations and student monitoring. You may also assist or cover for the Housekeeper, Caterer or Night Supervisor.
Programme growth
You will typically be responsible for 25-30 students.
Working hours
Your specific working hours would be set by the Programme Manager.
Your busiest days are likely to be Friday (confirming placements for the following week) and Monday (introducing students to their new placements).
Time off is most likely to be mid-week or Saturdays.
