Purpose of the role
The Programme Manager is directly responsible for the day-to-day running of all aspects of a Gap Medics programme. In short, you must ensure that we provide excellent customer service to every student.
The Programme Manager will tend to focus on the organisation of hospital placements, as these are the fundamental purpose of the entire programme.

- Ensure that every student is kept safe and secure at all times
- Ensure that every student is provided with an excellent hospital placement
- Ensure that a full and effective staff team is in place and providing outstanding customer service to all students
- Ensure that Gap Medics accommodation is of a high standard.
- Ensure that every student is provided with good food, in accordance with our operations guidelines
- Prepare and submit programme budgets and accounts to the UK Head Office
Required qualities
- Perfect English and local language, spoken and written;
- Very friendly, helpful and confident personality;
- Extremely professional with excellent references from previous employers;
- An obvious willingness to learn and adapt to the Gap Medics way of working;
- Proven ability to effectively manage and motivate small staff teams with substantial delegated responsibility;
- A willingness and ability to communicate at all levels, from difficult negotiations with senior doctors and officials to a very hands-on approach at the house, chatting with students and helping them to make the most of their experience.
Working hours
As Programme Manager you would not have set working hours; you are employed to get the job done, and that is likely to involve working irregular hours, early mornings, evenings and weekends as part of normal duties. Because of this, it is crucial that Programme Managers can organise their own time to ensure an appropriate balance between their work and social / family life.
It’s particularly important that a Programme Manager is present on Sunday afternoon and evening to ensure everything is ready for new arrivals and welcome briefings. Monday will also be a very busy day, as the Programme Manager should be heavily involved with placement introductions.
As you would be ultimately responsible for the running of the whole programme and students safety and security, you must be reasonably available and contactable at all times.
Salary is dependent on experience.
