In Zambia WaterAid is working in Lusaka, Southern and Luapula Provinces to help poor people achieve sustainable improvements in their quality of life through improved domestic water supply, sanitation and associated hygiene practices.

Reporting to the Country Representative, you will be responsible for providing financial leadership and strategic financial management to ensure that the Country Programme’s strategy and objectives are met. You will be accountable for developing and managing core financial functions and to ensure an effective and enabling financial control environment is in place that safeguards WaterAid’s assets and complies with global financial policies and local statutory requirements. You will also lead on ensuring efficient financial planning and reporting procedures are developed to deliver effective financial and grant management. You will lead the development of financial capacity building and training for both WaterAid staff and partners organizations to enhance financial competence and facilitate compliance. As the Finance Manager, you will be a key member of the country programme Senior Management Team (SMT). You will be used to taking responsibility for significant budgets, planning strategically and empowering others through your inspiring leadership style.

Key qualifications & experience:
- A Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting or an equivalent
- Fully qualified, ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or CIPFA
- Minimum 5 years at senior level management
- Quality and relevant experience in finance and accountancy in a senior position in a major organization
- IT literate and excellent knowledge and skills in using computer based Accounting systems and Microsoft Excel and Word packages
- Experience in preparing and monitoring budgets & developing monitoring and reporting systems
- Ability to provide financial analysis and interpretation to Senior Management Team for decision-making
- Knowledge of government policies and regulations on financial management and taxation
- Knowledge of international donor reporting requirements
- Risk analysis and risk management experience

- Excellent (proven) interpersonal both oral and written communication skills
- Highly numerate
- Ability to think strategically with excellent planning and prioritization skills
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills
- Successfully leading, managing, building high performing teams and developing capacity in professional finance teams
Conditions and benefits
Three years contract will be offered with excellent opportunity of renewal depending on successful performance. A competitive INGO salary and benefits package will be offered, dependent on qualifications and experience.
