Tanzania Media Fund (TMF)
Tanzania Media Fund (TMF) stands for an independent, quality, diverse and vibrant media in Tanzania by enabling investigative and public interest journalism, facilitating critical reflection and learning. TMF envisions a more open society where all people can access information, express their views and debate issues. Improvements to the quality and independence of journalism in Tanzania are both important and necessary. Grant-making, learning and mentoring are important means by which to achieve these ends.
TMF invites applications from accounting/finance university/college graduates for a six-month internship programme. The programme will provide the the successful intern with an opportunity to work under supervision/guidance of a professional accounting and finance team.
Requirements/conditions for applications
This programme is for a fresh accounting/finance university/college graduate with demonstrable commitment to work under internship programme, willingness and ability to work in a busy office environment, striving to acquire accounting skills and experience and a demonstrable high degree of honesty and integrity. Interns are not employees of Hivos Tanzania.
Remuneration
This programme focuses on serious but inexperienced job seeker looking for an opportunity to acquire minimum experience normally required for an accounting/finance position. Tanzania Media Fund does not provide salary to interns. Instead, interns are paid a modest monthly allowance to cater for transport and other basic requirements. In addition, lunch is provided to all staff and interns during working days.
Mutual Benefits
The internship programme is expected to benefit the organisation as well as the intern. At the end of the programme, the intern is expected to be able to prepare payment vouchers, make simple and compound journal entries, prepare bank reconciliations and review monthly trial balances. Also, prepare and review budget control reports, update fixed asset registers and produce draft financial statements. There is also a room for the intern to learn more advanced accounting, taxation and programme issues.
