Program Engineer, WASH, Akuem, South Sudan


Akuem, South Sudan - The Program Engineer, WASH is responsible for carrying out all technical aspects of the water, sanitation and hygiene program. This includes technical design, implementation, rehabilitation as well as trainings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage and train all technical staff including: Water and Sanitation Engineer, Community Water Management Training team, Latrine Construction Engineer, Water Quality Testing Engineer, Hand Dug Well Implementation Engineer. • Develop and improve the technical implementation of the WASH program including: training curriculum development, latrine and hand dug well implementation development, staff training and capacity building. • Oversee all technical aspects of the program, including: hand pump installation, apron construction, repair and maintenance trainings, hand pump rehabs, pump testing, water quality testing, household latrine construction, hand dug wells, design and implementation of water distribution systems. • Conduct WASH assessments as needed throughout South Sudan. • Assist the Program Manager, WASH with researching and providing recommendations for new programs and current program expansions. • Assist in technical research and design for new funding proposals. • WASH Cluster Coordination and communication. • Assist in WASH related emergency response activities. • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers. • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public. • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other related degree. • One year of college-level Biblical studies is preferred. • 2 years of relevant WASH technical experience. • Experience working in a cross cultural setting. • Field experience working in Africa, preferably with an INGO. • Highly motivated; with a desire to work with local communities. • Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people. • Ability to travel and work in difficult conditions and under pressure. • Strong analytical and leadership skills. • Ability to speak Arabic, preferred but not required.
24 month contract with the potential for renewal.
This is an unaccompanied assignment.
