Position Description:
Main responsibilities:The candidate will be working in a team headed by the UZIKWASACommunications and Partnership Building Program Manager, and under direct supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer. The candidate is expected to participate in the day-to-day data collection and processing. The specific responsibilities include:
· Collection and documentation of case studies in a given format (Swahili version)
· Assisting in conducting Serial Participatory Action Research with selected community groups
· Formation of Radio listener groups including visiting the groups for discussions as planned
· Collecting weekly feedback from four radio programs marked as key Campaign programs
· Extracting data from radio register and develop spread sheets to key data with columns as stipulated in monitoring Manual
· Assist in exporting and manage data from frontline SMS system for analysis
· Assist in coding case studies and community Diaries
· Develop archive for M&E data in hard copies
Qualifications and experience:The candidate must have at least 2 years work experience in the field of Monitoring and evaluation and be conversant with the principles of process monitoring and impact tracking. A first degree in a social sciences-related discipline is desirable and qualitative research experience including familiarity with NVIVO software an added advantage. Experience of field research, particularly in rural communities; good computer skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team; fluency in Swahili and English with good report writing skills; ability to communicate with people at all levels and sensitivity to cultural differences; willingness to relocate to Pangani Town and flexibility to work out of office hours is also required.
Remuneration and benefits:The position is for one year with the possibility to extend. Remuneration is commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to an innovate qualitative research project within an organisation which believes in ‘thinking deep, not wide’ and focusing efforts to effect real change within Pangani District.
