This is an expatriate role of 36 month based in Madagascar .

QIT Madagascar Minerals (QMM), which is 80% owned by Rio Tinto and
20% owned by the Government of Madagascar, has built a mineral sands
mining operation near Fort-Dauphin at the south-east tip of Madagascar.
QMM intends to extract ilmenite and zircon from heavy mineral sands over
an area of about 6,000 hectares along the coast over the next 40 years.

The Role:
The key focus of this role is to ensure preventative maintenance
and breakdown repairs of mechanical and electrical/instrumentation
equipment used for extraction, processing and shipment of minerals.
Reporting to the Maintenance&Engineering Manager you will be accountable for:
- Supervising a group of multi-skilled trades people, the separation plant and the Port
- Supervising the Technical Support Team
- Developing work procedures and safety guidelines for all direct reports
- Reviewing procedures and guidelines to ensure they accurately reflect operational requirements
- Supervising and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure they are completed within budget
- Ensure all maintenance activities undertaken are designed, planned and carried out in accordance with RT safety systems, standards
- Promoting knowledge transfer and development of local skills
A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
· Degree in Engineering or management or a related discipline
· Significant previous experience in a similar role; ideally gained in a mining industry
· Good working knowledge of English. French an advantage (or willingness to learn)
· Previous experience working in a developing country is a plus
· Proven managerial experience
