Organizational Overview
Founded in 2004 as Orphans of Rwanda, Generation Rwanda is dedicated to helping orphans and other socially vulnerable young people in Rwanda pursue a university education and ultimately become leaders in fostering economic development and social reconciliation. Generation Rwanda provides holistic support – including tuition, housing, healthcare and a range of supplemental training programs – to ensure that its students are prepared to excel. Our 100 students attend leading universities across Rwanda and specialize in disciplines including business, health, law and engineering. The Career Development Associate will report directly to the Career Development Officer and Program Director. This position is based in Kigali. The Career Development Associate will help implement the career development activities and will also represent Generation Rwanda to a wide variety of groups. The Career Development Associate plays a critical role in carrying out a variety of programmatic activities. The activities and responsibilities of the position are described below.
1. Career Development Program Responsibilities
• Help develop and cultivate relationships with businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government entities in Rwanda in order to develop internship and employment opportunities for Generation Rwanda students.
• Conduct individual career counseling, which includes supporting students in CV and cover letter writing and matching students with internships.
• Implement job skills training programs throughout the year
• Assist with monitoring and evaluation initiatives
• Help advise student committees
• Support and help guide the Alumni Association in their visions and goals
2. Additional Programmatic Responsibilities
• Assist with the annual Generation Rwanda student selection process
• Support student activities

Required
• Bachelor’s degree
• Fluency in English
• Cross-cultural skills and demonstrated passion for education & social change
• Ability to take initiative, work well under pressure, and carry out work independently
• Superior writing skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, maturity, and a sense of humor
Preferred but not required
• Teaching experience
• 2 years of work experience
