OVERALL OBJECTIVE
Working under the Country Director, the JPO will support the Ethiopia team in ensuring high quality grants’ administration and compliance to donor requirements. Generally, the Grant Officer will support the Country Director in updating the Ethiopia portfolio management database; draft project proposals and reports for both external and internal use; and support the CD in the management and follow up of specific donor grants.
BACKGROUND The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. The programme in Ethiopia was launched in 2009 providing assistance to refugees, asylum seekers and internally displaced as well as host communities.
The main emphasis is given to the provision of shelter, WASH, delivery of NFIs but also income generating activities and community based development projects. DRC Ethiopia currently maintains offices in Addis Ababa, Jijiga, Dolo Ado and Gambela with 70 national and 6 international staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Draft project proposals, periodic reports, memoranda of understanding, and funding requests for DRC operations in Ethiopia.
• Ensure compliance with donor guidelines.
• Act as a focal point for DRC Ethiopia’s information management by maintaining project databases and portfolios.
• Implement M&E tools in DRC Ethiopia field offices.
• Collate data on project progress and perform programme analysis.
• Draft monthly activity reports to be circulated among humanitarian partners and other stakeholders.
• Support the Country Director and other programme staff to develop new projects in Ethiopia, based on humanitarian needs and funding possibilities.
• Conduct field visits to perform need assessments and train staff in data collection methodologies.
• Establish and maintain continuous liaison with relevant DRC programme and grants management staff in Nairobi and Copenhagen.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• University Degree in Social Sciences, International Development, International Relations, Public Administration or related area.
• Minimum one year working experience with international NGOs or UN agencies.
• Knowledge of project development and management, including programme analysis and monitoring & evaluation.
• Demonstrated skills in analysing data, both qualitative and quantitative.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Danish
• Effective verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational, and prioritization skills are necessary.

REPORTING ARRANGEMENTS
Reports to Country Director, Ethiopia.

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with regular field visits
This is a Junior Professional Officer position starting salary of $3,000 per month.
