Minimum Requirements
◊ A bachelor's degree in social sciences is required. ◊ A minimum of two years experience in government, non-governmental organizations, public relations, or similar fields to include conducting translations is required. ◊ Level 5 (Professional Translator/Interpreter) Somali, Arabic, and English is required. (Language proficiency will be tested). Other Criteria à Must have thorough knowledge of Somalia's political, economic, social and cultural environment. à Must have working knowledge of the United States government political and cultural system is also required. à Must have computer skills in Microsoft applications including Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook. |

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION Under the direct supervision of the Media Information Support Team (MIST), performs all duties associated with translations and cultural initiatives. Duties include translation, and providing cultural insight. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 100 % OF TIME --Provide timely and accurate translations of print transcripts and audio recordings 85% --Provide insight to Somali culture, traditions, and belief 10% --Assist MIST with other duties as required 5%
