Professor/Associate Professor in Economics
The Department of Economics invites applications from strong candidates in any field of specialisation. The Department would prefer to make a senior appointment at Professor level but will consider outstanding applicants at Associate Professor level if no suitable applications are received at Professor level. The post is expected to commence on 1 September 2017.
You will have completed a PhD in Economics or a closely related subject and have a significant track record of excellence in teaching in one or more of the main areas covered by the Department of Economics. The Department is actively seeking candidates with expertise and research interests to complement existing fields of research and teaching expertise. You should also have excellent written and oral communication skills.
At Professor level, applications are sought from eminent candidates of outstanding international reputation in Economics or a closely related subject, with a proven record of influential publications of the highest quality in top-ranked journals. You will have a track record of outstanding research, as evidenced by existing influential publications of the highest quality in top-ranked journals. You will also have a track record of publishing on a continuous basis in top-ranked journals, with a clear, well developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that will result in further world-leading publications. You should have a track record in providing leadership in advancing research and teaching, with the potential ability to provide leadership in effective departmental administration and contribute to strategic decision-making in the Department.
At Associate Professor level, you will have an emerging international reputation in Economics or a closely related subject and a proven record of outstanding research, as evidenced by existing high-quality publications. You will have a track record of publishing in top journals, with a clear, well developed strategy for sustained high-quality research that will result in world-leading publications. You should have an ability to provide leadership in advancing research and teaching, with an ability to contribute to strategic decision-making in the Department.

Salary is competitive with Departments at our peer institutions worldwide. The minimum starting salary at the LSE for an Associate Professor is £63,201 pa inclusive and for a Professor is £84,754 pa inclusive. In addition, this post will attract a significant market salary supplement which reflects current market conditions.
