The NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Programme Officer: Agriculture and Food Insecurity Risk Management (AFIRM).
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Natural Resources Management Investment Program and the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Programme Officer will support the work of the Project Management Unit (PMU), composed of the Project Manager, the long term Technical Consultant, an Administrative Assistant and a pool of short term consultants and experts.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Excellent technical competence in project/programme implementation and reporting on results and outcomes.
ii. Excellent planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation and reporting skills.
iii. Excellent oral, writing and editing skills.
iv. High level of accuracy, attention to detail and thoroughness.
v. Ability to work under minimal supervision, be proactive, initiative and with sound judgment.
vi. Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure with a wide range of individuals and institutions.
vii. Creative thinking, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain confidentiality at the highest level at all times.
ix. Sound analytical skills.
x. Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-national environment.
Education and Experience: Candidates must have at least a Bachelor Degree in Economics, Agronomy, Agriculture Economics or related Social Sciences. Candidates must have five (5) years progressive experience in project implementation and monitoring. Previous experience in the areas of agriculture risk management, early warning and information systems is an asset.

Remuneration: Indicative basic salary of US$33,030.00 per annum plus other entitlements e.g. Post Adjustment (57% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($21,196.80.00 per annum), gratuity (15% of gross salary) in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union.
