Applications are invited for the post of full Professor in the Department of Media and Communications.
LSE’s Department of Media and Communications has expanded rapidly since its formation in 2003 and is internationally known for its distinctive interdisciplinary approach to the field of media and communications, primarily based in the social sciences, but also open to humanities perspectives. The Department was ranked first in the UK’s 2014 Research Excellence Framework and third in the QS 2016 world university rankings.
As the field of media and communications continues to transform and expand rapidly, we wish to appoint an outstanding academic with a track-record of critical and reflexive research and a strong intellectual vision for the field’s future development.
We welcome applications from anywhere in the world by researchers with specialisms from anywhere within the interdisciplinary field of media, communications or cultural research.
We particularly welcome applications from those with expertise that contributes to understanding the social, political, economic and/or cultural dimensions of social and technological change in today’s complex mediated environment.
The successful candidate will not only be capable of contributing to the Department’s research leadership but also to its teaching and strategic planning and its commitment to equity and fairness. S/he will be available to act as Head of Department by 1 September 2017, after the current Head of Department, Professor Nick Couldry, steps down at the end of his term.
