JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL FITTERS
Reporting Line: Boilermaker First Line Leader
Rotational Status: 6 weeks on 3 week off
Location ; Kahama District, Shinyanga Region
KEY RESULT AREA/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Ensure work is carried out accordance with company safety occupational health and environmental policies and procedures
• Ensure assigned work is carried out to professional standard in a timely manner
• Follow Safe Work Procedures and other maintenance procedures
• Carry out mechanical maintenance to improve equipment availability reliability, safety and functionality
• Assist other personnel with maintenance work as required
• Maintain tools and ensure the workplace in maintained in a safe working condition
• Report hazards, incidents, equipment damage or near misses to the Mechanical First Line Leader
• Provide accurate and timely feedback to Mechanical First Line Leader on conditions that may affect functionality or safety of equipment
• Ensure the Mechanical First Line Leader is kept informed on the status of assigned tasks
• Efficiently use resources to minimize cost while maintaining quality
• Complete assigned work in a timely manner with minimum supervision and to a professional standard
• To carry out troubleshooting, fault finding and corrective maintenance in order to solve unplanned equipment unavailability events
• Actively participate in training activities to gain new skills, develop full potential and assume increasing accountability
• Under the direction of the Mechanical First Line Leader, provide appropriate on-the-job training and coaching to less experience personnel
• Be proactive in all aspects of plant security to prevent and eliminate theft and fraud, including reporting observed or suspected breaches of company policy
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the Mechanical First Line Leader
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS
Education
• FTC/Trade test Grade 1 in a mechanical discipline
Experience and Skills
• Two (2) years practical work experience in maintenance
• Previous maintenance experience in industrialized plant
• Manual dexterity
Special Attributes Requirements
• Good interpersonal skills
• Initiative
• Good troubleshooting skills
• A willingness to learn and teach others
