Purpose of the Role:
Facilitates shared learning, production of communication and training materials and capacity development leading to improved programme design and delivery on land, agriculture and natural resources. Acts as a reference point on land, agriculture and natural resources, helping to synthesise and analyse progress against agreed plans in order to inform strategic decision-making and prioritization of work by the ActionAid International platform. Manages relevant multi-country projects and facilitates delegation of strands of work to countries. Makes strategic connections across the IS and across the federation to promote integrated and effective ways of working.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Facilitating effective programme shared learning on land and livelihoods through interactive communities of practice across the federation, helping to share and build knowledge from local and national programme practice.
- Providing practical support to collaborative research and evidence-building programmes for learning, innovation and
- programme development – and to ensure policy and campaign work can be rooted in our programme evidence and practice.
- Developing practical resource materials on land and livelihoods based on programme learning to share best practice, guide Reflection-Action processes and deepen understanding of how to apply HRBA for programming on land and livelihoods
- Maintaining relevant sections of the Hive and website to communicate our work on land and livelihoods internally and externally.
- Responding to requests for capacity development and technical support from countries on land and livelihoods
- Helping to build the capacity of country staff and partners to assume delegated responsibilities for strands of programme work and supporting them to deliver on these
- Supporting collaborative planning processes, ensuring the international platform has key information and learning available in accessible formats to inform strategic planning and prioritisation.
- Directly managing relevant existing multi-country projects and helping them to connect their work with the wider federation.
- Supporting monitoring and evaluation processes in tracking progress on land and livelihoods work
- Working closely with IHART team ensuring our humanitarian response connects with our resilient livelihoods work.
Desired Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Relevant Bachelors degree, Honours or Masters would be advantageous or Recognition or Prior Learning (RPL)
- Substantial experience working in an international agency across countries on land, agriculture and natural resources
- Comprehensive understanding of both policy issues and programme practice on land, agriculture and natural resources
- Ability to synthesise and anlayse complex information, draw out learning and communicate it effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, ability to, inform and engage through written communication
- Strong networking/relationship-building skills - ability to anticipate, coordinate and facilitate activities with colleagues, ability to
- Understand and synthesize diverging points of view.
- Ability to negotiate and influence to get results without formal line management authority.
