DEPUTY PRINCIPAL- ACADEMIC, RESEARCH AND CONSULTANCY

The Institute of Adult Education is a Government Institution established by Act of Parliament No.12 of 1975. It is a leading Institution in the provision of quality Adult and Non formal Continuing Education, with Accreditation by NACTL Due to expansion in its operations, IAE invites both internal and external applications from interested, suitable and qualified Tanzanians to fill the following position: 

POSITION NAME: Deputy Principal- Academic, Research And Consultancy (1 Post) 
WORK STATION :DAR ES SALAAM ,
ACCOUNTABLE TO : PRINCIPAL 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
The Deputy Principal (Academic, Research and Consultancy-DP-ARC) shall: 
(a) Be responsible to the Principal in respect of such matters of technical education administration and delivery. . 
(b) Responsible for Institute wide policy and strategy related to academic programmes and teaching and learning and in particular maintaining and advancing the Institute academic profile. 
(c) Provide leadership in the smooth running and development of academics in the institute. 
(d) Advise on all matters pertaining to academic development and management, quality control and assurance of programmes of the Institute. 
(e) Recommend appropriate budgets for the Academic departments. 
(f) Responsible for driving the strategic research direction and overall research agenda of the Institute. . 
(g) Coordinate the development and establishment of academic programmes and management of academic resources. 
h)Oversee admission and examinations regulations. 
Performs any other duties which the Principal may assign. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
Holder of Doctorate (PhD) degree in Education or equivalent in a related field 
Must be Computer Literate in Microsoft Application (Word, Excel etc) 
Candidate of higher academic achievement (Senior Lecturer/Principal Tutor 
I or above) preferably in the field related to the institution and be eligible 
for registration as a technical teacher by National Council for Technical Education (NACTE). 
Demonstrate competence of academic leadership .in academics, and research environment. 
Have a good understanding of the national policies arid strategies governing tertiary education and training in Tanzania. 
Have a broad awareness of factors and conditions shaping the development of higher education. 
A person possessing ability to influence, persuade, build coalitions and networks, stimulate and encourage new ideas and development through motivation and support of staff and students 
Demonstrate evidence of understanding of Quality Standards 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 
The post of Deputy Principal Academic, Research and Consultancy (DP-ARC) is a four year (4) contract and is eligible for renewal (once) based on the candidates' individual performance. The position carries a competitive remuneration package; terms and benefits. The entry point will depend on qualifications and experience.
