Job Summary:
Working in close collaboration with the small Research Team the Programme Manager will contribute to the effective and efficient production and delivery of the Ibrahim Index of African Governance (IIAG), Ibrahim Forum, and all related events and activities. The suitable candidate will demonstrate the experience and ability to analyse and interpret data, and produce written research findings. She/he will also take an active role in improving the efficiency of the Research Team where required, engaging with the external community and communicating the results of the IIAG.

She/he will also take an active role in improving the efficiency of the Research Team where required, engaging with the external community and communicating the results of the IIAG.
Specific Responsibilities
Ibrahim Index of African Governance
- Observe and analyse time series quantitative data for the production of the IIAG, including data checking;
- Report on observations, trends and technical methodologies relating to indicators in the IIAG;
- Investigate potential indicators for inclusion;
- Conduct extensive country data analysis, and technical note taking;
- Liaise with existing and potential data sources if required;
- Monitor and record data source information including publication dates and data availability;
- Help maintain a database of contacts and organisations for the Research Team;
- Assist with the dissemination of the IIAG results including by exploring new methods and providing administrative and logistical support;
- Provide general assistance to the Research Team, including preparing presentations and reports, proof-reading and tracking African governance related external events;
- Assist with the administration and logistics for Research Team events, training sessions and meetings.
- Conduct extensive desk-based research and synthesise information from relevant sources;
- Produce statistical analysis on the Ibrahim Forum topics;
- Produce high-quality briefing material on the Ibrahim Forum topics;
- Support the dissemination and communication of the Ibrahim Forum findings and outcomes;
- Support the development of the communications around the Facts & Figures document
- Be willing to play a proactive role within the team and wider Foundation, helping with whatever is required, which may involve tasks not listed within this job specification;
- Support external engagement, representing MIF at external events if required;
- Assist with the management of junior staff where required.
- University degree in economics, development studies, political science, social science or related field. A post-graduate degree in a related field is desirable;
- Minimum four years’ experience working in a similar role is desirable;
- Excellent computer skills, particularly MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English language required, other United Nations languages desirable);
- Ability to work comfortably with numbers and interpret data;
- Ability to prioritise and multi-task, with strong organisational skills and a detail orientated approach;
- Self-starter with proactive attitude and strong interpersonal skills;
- Interest in African governance and international development;
- Comfortable working as part of a team but also able to work well independently;
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to be diplomatic and deal with stakeholders and high-level officials tactfully and effectively, in a multi-cultural environment.
