Private Agricultural Sector Support (PASS) Trust (wwwpass.ac.tz) is a non-bank financial organization that facilitates provision of business development and financial services and credit guarantee to commercial farmers and agri-businesses that operate as small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) in Tanzania. The vision of PASS is to become a leading organization in the provision of financial and business development services in the Tanzanian agricultural sector.
The Managing Director is hereby inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced, dynamic and motivated Tanzanian citizens to immediately fill vacant positions currently existing in PASS Trust.
Business Development Officer (3 post)
The Business Development Officer will be reporting to Branch Manager and will have the following tasks and responsibilities:
Promoting and informing about role of PASS, at the meetings with potential clients, at visits to clients, through handouts, posters, advertising etc.
Identification of Demand for assistance and support from target groups in accessing finance from banks.
This will cover SME's in Primary and secondary agriculture including agro processing.
To Identify and introduce new business development products to meet the requirements of the evolving agricultural sector,
Design and establishment of feasible models for activities at smallholder farmers levels, including diversification of crops, improvement of production practices etc.
Making pre evaluation of proposal presented for support, and assisting entrepreneurs in improving on proposal into business plans of acceptable standards.
Liaise with key local authorities so as to identify and promote investments in agricultural and agro business in the zone .. This will include Chamber of commerce, Agricultural officers, Traders, Processors etc.
Assist clients to obtain credit facilities from collaborating banks.
Monitoring the performance of the clients in relation to respective business plans and budget.
Performing other duties as advised by management from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
A business development specialist with good knowledge/experience, in Tanzanian agriculture and agribusiness development, with minimum experience of 3 years in business planning, project analysis, evaluation and monitoring.
A good academic background, minimum Masters Degree in agricultural field, preferably in agricultural ,economics, Business Administration or any similar qualification backed up by extensive experience in business planning, project analysis, evaluation and monitoring.
Must demonstrate experience in credit guarantee schemes and other financial or non financial business
development services required to accelerate investments in small and meclum-scale farming and agro enterprises.
Adequate experience in agricultural supply chain interventions for enhancement of small/medium scale agricultural development.
Knowledge in agricultural financing and experience in facilitation of lending to smallholders including experience in negotiating with Banks.
Should have hands on experience in business planning and project appraisal; familiarity and use of tools for agricultural and investment projects analysis is essential.
Term of employment:
The Business Development Officer will be employed on a three years contract; the renewable of the contract will be on the basis of the performance .. PASS offers competitive remuneration package
Duty station: The duty station will be in any of the following station Mtwara, Moshi and Kigoma.
