The organisation:
TEACH aims to act as a catalyst of
economic empowerment and community development in Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro region
by partnering with aspiring entrepreneurs to incubate and accelerating social
enterprises.
Our approach integrates social entrepreneurship with living leadership.
We are partnering with aspiring entrepreneurs and assisting them, through our
BTC programme and soon incubation platform, to grow into exceptional leaders
who not only learn leadership but live leadership as models of integrity
and social commitment as they also become successful, community-minded
entrepreneurs.
The focus of our work is on communities in the Kilimanjaro region of
Tanzania, however we also have supportive branches in the UK and Canada that
engage youth to learn about, connect with and support the entrepreneurs with
whom we are working in Tanzania.
The role:
You
will be responsible for all Finance and HR related activities within TEACH. As
the first port of call for any HR-related issues, you will deal with sensitive
issues with professionalism and in accordance with TEACH policies and
procedures. You will manage the overall accounting of TEACH, Tanzania:
recording all expenditure accurately as well as providing financial reporting
in accordance with TEACH policy and ad hoc requests by management.
Core responsibilities and objectives:

Employee Relations – managing all Employee Relations and HR-related
issues, updating all TEACH Policies and Procedures and managing all HR-related
documentation, including employment contracts
·
Pay & Benefits – advising management on pay and other
remuneration issues, including promotions and benefits, through competitor
analysis and salary & benefits benchmarking
·
Compliance – maintaining all employee records, including the
tracking of holiday allowances and ensuring that all TEACH activities adhere to
the Tanzanian Government standards
·
Payroll – managing the monthly payroll cycle for both
permanent employees and casual labour
·
Cash Management – managing petty cash for all office-related costs
and the monthly Expenses cycle, including updating the TEACH accounts ledger as
appropriate
·
Accounting & Reporting – reconciling all TEACH accounts with expense
reports, payroll costs and general running costs whilst providing financial
reports in accordance with TEACH policy and ad hoc requests
·
Visa & Permit Applications – managing the application process and the
collation of required documentation to ensure compliance with Tanzania’s
working regulations
You will also be responsible for reviewing and
updating all HR and Finance policies and procedures as a key advisor to the
management team. You will support the professional development of all TEACH
Tanzania employees and volunteers and be a critical element in the continued
success of TEACH as a whole.
