Reporting to the Company Secretary, the Head of Securities & Documentation Centre will be responsible for the management and custody of documentation and securities post-loan approval for KCB Kenya and Cross Border Facilities through provision of legal advice, perfection of securities, approval of disbursements and safe custody of securities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and drive the Securities & Documentation Centre Strategy.
- Develop and maintain Business Continuity, Risk, and Compliance Management & Regulatory Controls for Department.
- Lead lawyer in supporting business teams in documenting complex credit & commercial transactions.
- Oversight management of Letters of Offer, term sheets , mandate letters, perfection and custody of all the Bank’s securities and approval of loan disbursements as per approved lending conditions
- Offer effective and efficient legal services to identified stakeholders being; International Businesses, Retail Branch network, Corporate Banking, Credit Division, Mortgage Division and Investment Banking team.
- Drive development and the implementation of security documentation policies, standards, regulatory or industry determined procedures and provide training across the Group to ensure compliance with local laws and company policies.
- Oversee the work allocated to External Legal Counsels ensuring value to the organization and adherence to standards as per signed Service Level Agreement.
- Responsible for data integrity, turnaround time and accuracy efficiencies of the Department Operations.
- Co-operate with legal teams across the Group companies and offer leadership in provision of efficient legal services to relevant departments and divisions while ensuring consistent compliance with applicable country laws, regulations and practices.
Position Qualifications/Requirements
- Law degree from a reputable university
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate.
- Current Certificate of good conduct.
- CPS (K) Certified Public Secretary Kenya will be an added advantage.
- Commissioner for oaths and Notary Public will be an added advantage.
- Master’s degree will be an added advantage
- A Minimum of 8 years post- admission experience preferably in the legal services environment within Financial/Banking Sector out of which 5 must be in a senior position.
- Good grasp of securities and loan documentation utilized as well as abreast with the changing land and related relevant legislations.
- Good knowledge of the operations and processes at the various land registries and county offices.
- Must have attention to detail
- Must have the ability to prioritize work and deliver high quality output within tight deadlines with a view of ensuring the set T.A.T are achieved.
- Must be resourceful, creative and has high follow-through ability.
- Should have excellent organizational skills and analytical and computer skills
