POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Nature and Scope
The Universal Communications Service Access Fund has been established under section 4 (1) of the Universal Communications Service Access Act, 2006 with the following objectives:
i. To ensure the availability of communication services in rural and urban under¬served areas;
ii. To promote the participation of the public an private sector in the provision of universal service in the rural and urban under-served areas;
iii. To promote the socio-economic development of the rural and urban underserved areas;
iv. To create a framework for an open and efficient access to and use of communication and service in production and availability of competitive market;
v. To promote widespread provision of quality services at affordable rates and ensure that, rural and urban under-served areas have access to communication and information services at a reasonable and affordable prices; and
vi. To ensure availability of universal services by enhancing communications services access through private sector participation
Reports to : Human Resources and Administrative Officer
Key Responsibilities
i) Drive the Fund Vehicle (s);
ii) Reports on motor vehicle faults and supervise motor vehicle service and repair;
iii) Maintain and keeps up-to-date log- books;
iv) Adheres to maintenance schedules;
v) Keep motor vehicle in good running condition and report faults and defects immediately;
vi) Ensure that valid documents are obtain prior to commencing any journey;
vii) Ensure safety and cleanliness of vehicle at all times; and
viii)Attends any other functions as may be assigned by supervisor.
Qualification and Experience
Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education and Valid Driver's license, Executive Driving
Skills Training with NIT or any other similar institution is required. Certificate in Motor Mechanics and minor repair will be an added advantage. Minimum five (5) years of work experience as a driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair; excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues, previous work experience with the Government, Government Agencies or reputable organizations is required;
