PSI and its local affiliates manage malaria control programs in 32 countries and are world leaders in the distribution of Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) for malaria prevention. Since 1996 PSI and its affiliates have procured over 200 million ITNs. In 2011, PSI distributed 43 million ITNs in Africa alone, half of all nets delivered in the continent that year.
PSI is seeking an experienced, dynamic Malaria Team Leader to lead logistics and overall management efforts for a Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLINs) Replacement Campaign funded by the United Republic of Tanzania, Ministry of Health and Social Welfare through the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP). The position will be based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with 40% travel and will report to the PSI/Tanzania Country Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support PSI/Tanzania and Tanzania's National Coordinating Mechanism (TNCM) to implement and expand Tanzania's malaria prevention activities, with particular focus on increasing and maintaining Long Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN) coverage.
- Lead efforts in supply chain management from central level to the service delivery points at village level (e.g., design LLIN vouchers for distribution to households during registration, design an alternative LLIN distribution for urban settings).
- Proactively engage with international partners, including RBM HWG, SRNs, VCWG and AMP to improve coordination at national and international levels
- Lead all LLIN coordination, handling and distribution efforts (e.g., organize a national competitive bidding for the selection of the transportation company, organize quality control testing, develop district-level LLIN allocation plans and manage storage).
- Provide technical assistance to the districts during planning, registration, issuing and reporting stages (e.g., mapping of the districts, location and number of distribution points, financial management of all cash payments to the relevant districts).
- Play a leading role on monitoring, supervision and reporting (e.g. design a database to record data on the number of LLINs assigned for each village, provide detailed district-based reports on all stages of the campaign).
- Compile and disseminate lessons learned to international partners through a range of media, including tool kits and publications, to facilitate rapid transfer of best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant post-graduate degree (MPH, MSc, PhD, etc.)
- At least 5 years work experience in a developing country in a malaria technical or management capacity
- Sound technical knowledge of malaria epidemiology, treatment and prevention
- Experience in conducting LLIN distribution through both campaign and routine mechanisms
- Experience working with Ministries of Health and Country Coordinating Mechanisms in all aspects of mass LLIN distributions
- Previous malaria technical work experience in Tanzania a plus
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- The position is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with 40% travel
