MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS TCDC), located in Usa River near Arusha, was established in 1976 to prepare Danish volunteers to work in East and Southern Africa. Today it trains over 5,000 people annually from all over the world in development management courses, Kiswahili language and cultural orientation. MSTCDC trainings are structured around non formal and formal education programmes with strong synergies between them. MS TCDC is currently expanding its formal education programmes in response to the growing demand for transformative and value driven leadership in Africa. In order to support this expansion, the organization is looking for a vibrant, motivated professional to take the position of Academic Manager.
The Academic Manager reports to the Principal. The key responsibilities for Academic Manager will be as follows:
- Develop and implement the Centre’s strategy on formal education programmes.
- Lead in the areas of curriculum development, programme delivery, learner assessment, achievement and management.
- Manage and coordinate the teaching component of centre’s formal education programmes to ensure consistency within and between programmes.
- Liaison with Registrar of collaborating partners to ensure compliance of partnership agreements.
- Some responsibility in teaching and supervising students.
- Manage the Centre’s research and publication function.
Requirements and skills:
- A PhD preferably in Political Science and or Public Administration, Sociology; Law, Development Studies, other Humanities and good understanding of training and facilitation of adult learning pedagogy.
- Energetic, committed and motivated.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good managerial and leadership skills in a multicultural setting.
- Familiarity with local and regional accreditation systems.
Terms and conditions
The position will be based at the MS TCDC training centre in Arusha, Tanzania. The position is offered under an initial contract term of five (5) years and subject to renewal based on performance.
