Oxfam is an
International NGO working with others to find lasting solutions to poverty and
suffering in Tanzania and more than 80 other countries worldwide. In Tanzania Oxfam is working in Shinyanga,
Simiyu, Geita, Mwanza, Dodoma, Morogoro, Tanga, Manyara and Arusha to implement
three change goals that have been identified in the country strategy for 2010/2015, namely Economic Justice - Rural Livelihoods (including smallholder,
pastoralist and women’s livelihoods), Gender
Justice – equality for women and Social
Justice centred in active citizenship and effective governance for quality
essential services. Gender justice change goal aims at ending violence against
women and to promote women’s leadership and economic empowerment.
IT Officer
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

We are
currently looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable IT Officer to provide support and advice in IT for Tanzania
programme offices in Dar es Salaam and Field offices.
Roles
and responsibilities
In this role you will
report to the Finance and Systems Manager, you will be responsible for the
following;
- To
act as the contact person with the RISM for all IT issues relating to the
Tanzania Country Programme.
- Ensure
the reliability of the local email system in the Dar es Salaam and field
offices
- Take
regular backups of all local data
- Ensure
that the virus protection software is installed on all machines and
updated regularly
- Provide
first line software support to all in country staff, including
troubleshooting all the software problems by themselves
- Manage
IT training to all in country staff
- Induct
new staff in Oxfam’s computer systems
- Provide
first level hardware maintenance and upgrades
- Keep
an up to date inventory of all IT equipments both software and hardware
- Maintain
the Local Area Network
- Manage
IT contracts with external suppliers of goods and services where these
things need to be bough in.
- To
upgrade and install new versions of software on the server and the
workstations in the office e.g MS-Office, SIPS, etc a advised by the
Regional and Oxford IT
- To
ensure the communication links with sub offices, and with Oxford server
through email by maintaining the internet connection
- To back up the communications staff on radio cover
A
candidate envisaged for this role will hold the following;
- Basic
hardware, operating systems ( specifically windows XP/7 /Server 2003/2008)
training, plus training on other application ( e.g. Lotus Domino, MS Office Suite)
- Ability
to solve simple hardware problems on their own and provide good support on
applications to the other users
- Ability
to meet deadlines and able to organise work effectively whilst being
proactive and showing initiative
and tenacity
- Training
skills in one-to-one capacity, groups and support role
- Ability
to show logic and thinking through options before deciding on a course of
action

to explain complex situation in simple terms

We are currently looking for a dynamic
and knowledgeable Human Resources
Manager to enhance the impact of our work in Tanzania.
Roles
and responsibilities:
In this role, you will be reporting to
the Associate Country Director and
you will be responsible for the following:
- Lead on
the development, coordination and implementation of
the people strategy which support the overall Oxfam’s strategic aims and
objective, with the view of helping programmes and senior managers
identify the people implications of the strategy.
- Support the organisational design and workforce plans that builds on
existing potential staff and actively support Organisational change
processes between Oxfam affiliates
in Tanzania towards determining organisational people needs and
structure and planning for change processes to ensure effective
implementation of an agree structure.
- Provide expert
professional advice to managers and staff on all aspects of people
management, current employment legislation and best practise.
- Responsible
for the effective implementation and development of the full suite of HR
practices according to best practice and legal obligations; including,
recruitment and selection, performance management, reward management,
health and safety, diversity, employee relations, change management and
learning and development.
- Ensure that the HIV/AIDS workplace policy is appropriately
implemented across the country programme and Provide Health and Safety advice and to proactively carry out risk
assessments, including issues around staff health and welfare.
Skills
and competencies:
A candidate envisaged for
this role will hold the following:
- A full professional
qualification in Human Resource Management and substantial HR experience
with full knowledge of Employment Law and HR Policies/Best practice.
- Ability to reflect and
effect a gender and diversity sensitive human resources policy and
systematic in approach with good attention to detail.
- Computer skills, track
record of consistent personal achievement at both an operational and strategic
level in different contexts and with diverse teams, including in the
international environment.
- Ability to provide a
strategic and business partner support to the country teams that
demonstrates knowledge of the business, HR expertise, and personal
credibility and as a change agent.
- A good working
knowledge of HR systems.
- Excellent
interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication.
