Deputy Executive Director in Tanzania
Secondary Education for Girls' Advancement (SEGA) in Morogoro, Tanzania seeks an entrepreneurial, committed Deputy Executive Director, to support the continued development of The Sega Girls School, a secondary residential school for girls in Morogoro, Tanzania. The Sega Girls Secondary School, now in its 5th year, provides quality academic, life skills and business education to 150 vulnerable girls from Standard VII through Form IV, with the overall purpose of empowering disadvantaged girls to change their lives. SEGA's vision is to develop a financially self-sufficient, model school for educating Tanzanian girls; emphasizing leadership, social responsibility, and environmental care among its students.
With a successful track record in Tanzania and a supportive network of donors and supporters both within Tanzaniawithinthe USA
and around the world, our aim is to become a high performing, financially self-sufficient school over the next 10 years through strengthening our academic programs and developing our own profitable businesses on the school's campus. Businesses will be developed to provide income as well as practical learning opportunities for our students. We are seeking a candidate for Deputy Executive Director, who will become the next Executive Director after a hand-over period, with the following experience and attributes for this challenging and fulfilling post:
Qualifications and Experience
- Higher degree (master's preferred) in business administration, education, Organizational Development, or relevant field
- A minimum of 5 years experience in management and leadership positions in Tanzania
- Excellent managerial, organizational development, team-building and leadership skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to interact with stakeholders of all nationalities and cultures

Position Responsibilities
- Builds a cohesive, effective team to plan and implement the school's academic, leadership and business programs
- Oversees the development of new campus businesses to reach financial self-sufficiency goals, supervising a Business Director, and ensuring smooth running of those businesses
- Oversees the continued development of the school and its academic, life skills and entrepreneurship programs, supervising the Headmistress and ensuring smooth running of the school
- Effectively engages with an array of domestic and international institutional partners to fulfill mutual objectives
- Oversees construction of new buildings
- develops a positive image with local community, donors, partners and other stakeholders
- shares learning at national scale to influence education policy
- Responsible for budgeting, financial management, and ensuring use of funds as per plan, reporting regularly to donors
- Participates in grant writing, along with partner organization in the US as needed
