KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervising and coordinating all day-to-day operations, equipment and personnel related to integrated drilling services.
Supplying all relevant information, data and report to contractor’s onshore and offshore personnel.
Maintaining a safe culture ensuring all activities are executed in a safe and effective manner in compliance with all relevant HSE legislation and procedures. Ensuring that all personnel understand their responsibility for collectively managing a safe workplace.
Ensuring the Product Line personnel understand and work within the company compliance code of conduct and that a culture exists of ‘doing the right thing’ with respect to compliance requirements.
Assuming full P&L responsibility for the Product line business, ensuring business objectives are achieved and customer expectations are delivered in compliance with external regulatory requirements and internal policies and standards. Ensuring that effective cost management is understood and practiced by the organization.
Providing leadership, direction and management of the Drilling Services Product Line business, applying a ‘hands on’ approach as required producing solutions to strategic, operational, technical and commercial challenges which may impact on performance and/or service quality.
Implementing business strategies that deliver sustained profitable business performance. Consistently ensuring that the Product Line maintains its strategic focus on the provision of a quality service to customers.
Building and strengthening relationships with customers, suppliers and vendors, influencing and acting as the principal point of communication
Developing a keen understanding of the local market, ensuring market share positions in the core product lines are grown.
Producing financial business plans for the Product Line in conjunction with management team.
Communicating clearly throughout the organisation all corporate, regional and Product Line business goals, targets and objectives, ensuring each team member understands their contribution to achieving overall success.
Driving forward change initiatives which enhance business performance from both a GeoMarket and customer perspective.
Developing, mentoring and motivating the Product Line management team towards the attainment of clear goals, targets and objectives, encouraging a positive and proactive approach to achieving results in a constructive, team orientated culture.
Ensuring that key positions in the organisation are staffed with the calibre of individuals motivated to attain the challenges set them, and support the management team to leverage the potential of, and retain, talented employees.
Ensuring that local talent is developed and mentored to minimise reliance on external labour.
Challenging conventional attitudes, thinking, business processes and methodologies to accommodate the changing commercial and relationship management demands of customers.
Maintaining regular dialogue, informing and advising on both plus and minus factors impacting on the business. In effect applying a ‘no surprises’ approach to communication.
REQUIREMENTS
8 years’ experience in Drilling Services; technical expertise combined with Operations experience. 2 years documented experience as a directional driller.
A University degree is essential, preferably Engineering.
A P&L focused commercially astute manager currently operating at senior management level, of graduate calibre with a proven business management track record in leadership.
Have good experience and knowledge within a similar type of business, preferably with direct knowledge of Drilling business management.
Baker Hughes experience is essential.
Experience from both planning and operational phase of HPHT well.
Preferably cross-trained within other disciplines, such as MWD, mudlogging and drilling optimisation.
Decisive, influential, credible and passionate leader possessing the maturity to accept a high degree of responsibility with personal presence to command respect and authority with the team, customers and suppliers.
Highly experienced in the day to day management and direction of a safety conscious, people orientated, customer focussed service business, ideally with an international perspective.
Ambitious with the drive and determination to lead an organisation towards achieving enhanced profitability, operational excellence, enviable safety performance and a high level of service delivery.
A people orientated manager with a real grasp of the complexities associated with managing and motivating professional staff, technical specialists and operational staff in a multi-client business environment.
A manager who adopts a proactive and transparent approach to reporting, possessing proven ability in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance measurement.
A strong and positive character with resilience, integrity, stability and the confidence to overcome short-term hurdles, both real and perceived, in pursuit of a clear strategy for growth.
