- The African
Financial Market Initiatives (AFMI) of the African Development Bank (AfDB)
will require the Services of a Consultant for the following assignment:
AFMI Assistant Knowledge Manager.
- The services
of a Assistant Knowledge Manager are required to conduct bond market
research and knowledge management activities. The Consultant will
responsible for the editing and management of the content disseminated
through the AFMI website, the AFMI brand and advocacy related activities.
The Consultant will work with the Knowledge Manager within the AFMI
team. The consultant will report to the AFMI Coordinator.
Specifically, his/her functions and responsibilities are:
§ Directly
communicate with Central Banks/ Ministries of Finance/ Debt Management Offices
to follow up on a data and information on domestic bond markets;
§ Compile and analyse
bond market development data for the monthly African domestic bond market
newsletter. The newsletter highlights bond market development news of interest
to stakeholders and development partners;
§ Ensure that the
editorial content is written and presented in a format that meets web usability
standards, is consistent with the AFMI’s objectives and meets the AfDB’s
information and knowledge management guidelines;
§ Assure the quality
of all AFMI-branded products, including documents, publications, and
promotional material;
§ Writing, editing
and proof reading content on a regular basis for the AFMI website, based on
material and reports supplied by the AFMI Support Team;
§ Establish and
maintain linkages with academic institutions for the provision of research
relating to African domestic debt markets.
§ Assist in the
formation of the South-South corporation and knowledge sharing platform for
domestic debt markets.
§ Conduct content
editing and review during the site translation project as required;
§ Uploading content
related to bond auctions and monetary policy using TYPO 3 Content Management
System Tool;
§ Develop marketing
strategy for the promotion of AFMI and establishment of working relations with
other organisations with a focus on development of African domestic debt
markets;
§ Manage AFMI’s
external communication in addition to AFMI’s presence on social media;
§ Assist the
Knowledge Manager with the annual review of the AFMI’s website infrastructure
and work closely with the AFMI web maintenance team to enhance the website’s
functionality and develop innovative ways to effectively meet stakeholders’
needs;
§ Research new web
projects and/or ideas- Archive relevant articles, reports and documents
§ Perform any other
task as requested by the Coordinator.

The AFMI of the
AfDB invites Individual Consultants to submit their interest in providing the
services described above. Interested Individual Consultants must provide
information on their capacity and experience indicating that they are qualified
to perform the services (Resume, description of similar assignments, experience
in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.).
- Eligibility
criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure
shall be in accordance with the “Rules and Procedures for the use of
Consultants”, for projects financed under the African Development Bank
window, May 2008 edition, revised in July 2012 which is available on the
Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org. The Bank is under no
obligation to shortlist any consultant who expresses interest.
- The duration of the mission is estimated at
12 months (renewable upon successful completion of the assigned tasks) and
the commencement date is planned for March 2014.
- Interested Individual Consultants may obtain
