The successful candidate shall provide technical support to scientists and researchers in the C4 Rice Project to ensure the delivery of results.
Major accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Prepare the needed buffers and media for experiments to be conducted in the laboratory
• Leaf sampling
• Extract plant genomics DNA for PCR and southern blot analysis
• Run gel electrophoreses
• Maintenance of molecular laboratory equipment
• Record and encode collected data for further analysis and evaluation
• Perform all other related duties that may be assigned form time to time by the supervisors
Qualification requirements
• At least high school graduate
• At least two years of related work experience; Experience in the following working environment is preferred: molecular biology laboratory, transgenic greenhouse and screenhouse
• Skilled in molecular biology techniques and in conducting greenhouse/field experiments
• Basic knowledge of computers for effective data storage and presentation, maintaining hard and soft copies of results; Experience in using laboratory equipment such as PCR machine, gel electrophoresis, pH meter, balance centrifuge, and autoclave
