BASIC FUNCTIONS: The Associate Director, Technical, has the overall responsibility for providing programmatic and technical leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Family Health International’s programs in Southern Sudan. She/he will assist and work closely with the Country Director in the discharge of this core function.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist the Country Director in development, management, implementation and evaluation of appropriate systems, projects, services, staff and budgets. 2. Assist the Country Director in development and evaluation of unit/division/departmental goals and/or objectives, proposals, reports, etc., as it relates to organization’s strategic plan and priorities. 3. Assure the necessary support for the country program functions and responsibilities. 4. Participate in the development and implementation of educational and training activities in the funded programs, as well as emerging ones, including research and ethics 5. Provide technical support and participate in the preparation of periodic project activity reports 6. Lead and/or participate in assessment and design of team activities. 7. Contribute to resource development efforts, including participation in proposal development 8. Perform other related duties as assigned.
CORE MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A medical degree (MBChB), Bachelor of medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, or equivalent degree in related field, with specialized training in HIV/AIDS. Five years working experience in FP/RH/ MCH including neonatal health in a technical capacity, and two years experience working in HIV/AIDS prevention activities. Experience in RH/FP with HIV integration will be an added advantage. Demonstrated technical assistance and consulting experience related to public health responses to FP/RH/MCH and neonatal health service delivery, and STI/ HIV/AIDS prevention desired. Demonstrated leadership in facilitating multi-sectoral alliances and partnerships at local and national, levels in the area of FP/RH/MCH and neonatal health will be an added advantage.
OTHERS The successful candidate will be expected to work independently on several projects with minimal supervision, possess good written, verbal, organizational skills, possess relevant computer software and statistical skills, including Ms Office suite. She/he should possess technical knowledge in Management, including management of assigned personnel and budgets, be culturally sensitive, and understand the political and ethical issues in assigned areas of work.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel locally, and internationally.
