Objective: The job holder represents CBM in the region, develops and implements CBM’s Regional Disability and Development Strategy, establishes, maintains and runs the Regional Office.
Reporting to the Vice President Programme Development, the Regional Director needs to accomplish the following tasks:
Programme Development • Collect and analyse regional information relevant for CBM work • Elaborate the Regional Strategy including country and CBM mandate concepts • Develop concepts for partner development (regional, country and partner based) • Nominate and coordinate regional Teams of Competence (ToC) according to the needs and requirements of the Regional Strategy, specified through Terms of Reference (ToR) • Elaborate three to five-year regional budgets with partners, through ToCs • Monitor the implementation of partners activities • Evaluate performance of partners’ activities • Develop strategies to support national stakeholders in advocacy of disability issues that further the aims of the Regional Strategy
Human Resources • Develop a regional human resource inventory • Implement agreed strategies to develop human resources for CBM’s work in the region • Assess and appraise co-workers assigned to the region
Alliance Building • Liaise with government and supranational bodies in the region • Liaise with international and local NGOs • Promote networking and alliance building with stakeholders in the region • Support the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in the identification of international/global alliances
Public Relations and Fundraising • Support CBM Member Associations (MAs) with appropriate proposals • Support CBM MAs with appropriate reporting • Develop strategies and concepts promoting visibility of CBM in the region • Support CBM MAs with large donor care

Personal Attributes • Good inter-personal skills • Team player • Able to work with a range of individuals from a variety of cultures, professions and personal backgrounds • Able to lead in modelling and promoting CBM’s ethos and core values • Recognises own limitations • Able to motivate people • Open to new ideas • Determination to deliver results in a definite time scale • Able and willing to travel about 30% of working days Professional Experience • Three years experience in senior management - corporate and/or NGO • Three years experience of living and working in the developing world • Experience in international programme development and implementation • Knowledge of medical and/ or rehabilitation/education fields as to CBM mandate • First degree in relevant subject
