Main function: This is a middle managerial position in the Authority. The officer will be responsible for planning the day to day activities and assist in drafting presentations for the Chairperson in advance.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Officer will be responsible for;
Monitoring progress of planned activities / projects in the Office of the Chairperson
Collecting data from the field
Drafting Chairperson’s speeches , presentations and manage his protocol
Drafting monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the Office of the Chairperson
Taking minutes for technical meetings chaired by the Chairperson and ensuring that action points are delivered on time.
Carrying out research on topical areas for specific information using electronic resources and or networking relations with internal and external key stakeholders
Drafting general replies on behalf of the Chairperson

Produce Monthly, quarterly and Annual reports for the Office of the Chairperson
Minutes produced and circulated in time

Requirement:

Major Function: This is a middle managerial position where the senior officer will be assisting the Head, Human Resource Planning and Development in harmonizing the
plans, strategies and interventions aimed at improving development and utilization of manpower in the country.

Developing and implementing work plans and activities related to planning and development of the country’s human resources at the national and local levels
Assisting the Head Human Resource Planning and Development in working with educational and training institutions in developing programmes and curricular that addresses the country’s critical skills and capacity requirements.
Participating in carrying out assessment of the human resource situation in the country.
Carrying out projections of the human resource development needs of the country.
Participating in harmonizing and formulation of new policies for Human Resource Planning and Development.
Participating in developing the National Human Resource Plan.

Major function:
This is a middle Managerial position in the Authority. The Officer will be responsible for coordinating and harmonizing the development planning and formulation of plans and strategies particularly in the trade sector
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the Head of the unit in the Formulation of National Development Plans and address issues of Trade Tourism.
Monitoring & evaluating the implementation of key policies, projects, programmes and development initiatives in the trade sector
Conducting research in the area of trade so as to inform development planning processes
Providing input and advice on the National sect oral budgeting processes in line with the National Development Plan
Participating in the preparation and implementation of the departmental work plans.

Major Function: This is a middle Managerial position in the Authority and the Officer will be responsible for performing Geospatial information processing by planning, organizing, and evaluating GIS/SDI operations and managing staff.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Officer will be responsible for:
Coordinating the geo-spatial datasets, data standards, quality products, analysis, and dissemination of Information used in the development of a National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).
Developing, maintaining and managing NPA’s information systems required to help easy storage and accessibility of geo-spatial information.
Coordinating activities related to NSDI global standard Information Management (IM) tools as well as be the NPA Uganda focal point for the NSDI platform:
Drafting materials, and conducting continuous in-house training for NPA staff;
Carrying out periodic training needs assessment for NISDIC members and participating institutions, and recommend specialized courses.
Maintaining current system; evaluate, recommend, test and install new geospatial technology; contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems;
Identifying trends, determining system improvements implementing change.
Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends in new Geospatial technologies.Compiling, describing, and, where necessary, reformatting key quantitative data sets including data from several sources such as surveys of households and firms: administrative records: and statistical abstracts, among others.
Organizing and expanding an extensive collection of spatial (GIS) data sets for Uganda.
Provide analysis upon demand of the data sets compiled, including the spatial data sets, in order to serve the requirement of the Spatial Planning activities at NPA, make spatial information at NPA available to other researchers and policy analysts.

JOB TITLE: SENIOR MACROECONOMIST (1 POSITION) RE-ADVERTISED
Reports to: Head, MacroEconomics
Major Function: This is a middle managerial position in the Authority. The Officer will be responsible for providing a wide range of reports on Macroeconomic developments in the economy.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Officer will be responsible for:
Ensuring collection of relevant macroeconomic indicators/database, for the real, fiscal, monetary and external sectors
Ensuring maintenance of a statistical database to support macroeconomic modelling analysis and forecasting.
Periodically studying historical trends for the whole economy as well as analyzing the macroeconomic developments (for example, inflation, domestic demand, exchange rate, unemployment, public expenditure and other related policy variables)
Using quantitative techniques in formulating and estimating economic models that help to explain economic relationships/inter- linkages and can be used for forecasting future trends.
Monitor and report on periodic trends and forecasts of major National Development issues and assess their potential impact on Uganda’s economy.
6 Regularly monitor the performance of the private sector and how it responds to major Government interventions particularly those that are intended to improve the overall business operating environment.
Liaise with other departments in National Planning Authority in Producing National Development Reports (NDR).

The Senior Officer will be responsible for;
Coordinating the Authority’s efforts to study and analyze National economic policies, plans and programs to establish their impact on the economy.
Liaising with Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Office of the Prime Minister, Uganda Bureau of Statistics, Bank of Uganda and the Economic Policy Research Centre on matters concerning the measurement and monitoring of major economic and socio indicators as well as analyzing and documenting macro-economic trends of the economy.
Studying and analyzing the National medium-term recurrent and development budgets, with a view to advising on the rationale and cost-effectiveness of resource utilization.
Producing briefs, reports, reviews and other documentations on the state of the economy.
Analyzing trends of aid in-flows and utilization and advise on it’s effectiveness as well as implications.
Facilitating the production of NPA’s Ministerial policy statement/ Budget Framework paper, Strategic Plan (including its review) and Sector performance reports.
Facilitating the formulation of medium-term and long term plans and strategies for the country by coordinating and cooperating with the respective stakeholders.
Compiling and analyzing data as may be required for the department and the Authority in line with the Government’s National Development Ran.
