Position: Civil Engineer
Reports to: Program Director/Country Director
Location: South Sudan
Duration: 6 months
The Civil Engineer will work closely with the Program Director, other RI program staff and different refugee representation groups to support the refugee camp management efforts of RI.
Expected Duties and Activities: • Conduct duties of site engineer for rapid construction of compound • Adapt planning and construction activities to rapidly changing conditions • Development of BOQs and other technical documents and specifications for construction of facilities • Provide project oversight and supervision for team of laborers • Liaise with other team members (particularly Logistics and Warehouse Manager) to plan and develop the compound • Manage construction project objectives against a budget, ensuring timely completion against the workplan
Qualifications and Credentials • University degree in civil engineering from a recognized University, or equivalent • At least 7 years experience in construction engineering including projects related to public services, office buildings, road construction, industrial buildings etc. • Significant experience as onsite field manager of rapid set up projects • Previous experience in humanitarian projects • Previous experience in complex emergencies highly desirable • Ability to work and live in remote area of South Sudan • Effective communication skills and leadership qualities to ensure completion of project objectives in a team environment • Fluency in English and other INGO working language • Computer skills – MS Office, Auto Cad
