Position: Technical Director
Reports to: Chief of Party
Location: Arusha, Tanzania
Job Summary
The Technical Director will work in close collaboration with the COP and the technical staff of the program to provide strategic input to the program. In collaboration with the M&E Officer, s/he will monitor program results and be responsible for the quality and accuracy of technical interventions and results.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to maximize integration and synergies of the objectives and strategies of the Program;
• Provide technical leadership and guidance for the preparation of high quality program technical briefs and presentation for GOT, USAID, and other stakeholders;
• Provide representation of the Program as appropriate and necessary with relevant internal and external counterparts, partners, and stakeholders;
• Ensure coordination with Program Finance and Administration for the timely completion of budgets and reporting;
• Ensure that the project adheres to national and internationally accepted technical norms and standards and that best practices and approaches are well-documented and highlighted throughout project implementation;
• Ensure timely and qualitative compilation of all necessary reports and especially quarterly reports, and semi and annual reports.
Desired Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in public health, social sciences, international development, or a related field;
• Seven years senior level management experience in the design, implementation, and management of programs of similar size, complexity, and setting;
• Ten years senior level experience in health programming and service delivery in HIV/AIDS, TB, and FP;
• Knowledge of USG Health initiatives and related reporting requirements and funding parameters;
• In-depth knowledge of PEPFAR 3.0 Action Agendas and goal, and implications for health and social welfare systems strengthening in Tanzania;
• Demonstrated supervisory experience;
• Extensive experience in developing and managing a donor-funded grants program;
• Results from reference checks that support the candidate’s stated skills;
• Exceptional English written and oral communication skills; and
• Tanzanian nationals preferred.
