Mwananchi Communications Limited, publishers of the leading Tanzania newspapers, Mwananchi, The Citizen and Mwanaspoti is looking for motivated and highly experienced individuals to fill the positions of:

Revise Editor (1 Post)

Job Purpose:
To clean up subbed copy to ensure factual and language accuracy, clarity, readability, balance and comprehensiveness in conformity with journalistic ethics, editorial guidelines, policy and house-style. .

Main Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key result areas:
Responsible for the correctness of the language (grammar, spelling, and syntax), style and balance of editorial material assigned to him/her for revision.
Edits text (including headlines and captions)) for language,' style, clarity, comprehensiveness, balance, objectivity, appropriateness, crispness and topicality in electronic format on a computer.
As part of editorial team, reviews the day's publication to identify strengths and weakness and shares findings/analysis with Managing Editor.
Ensures revised material is free of defamatory material and is consistent with MCL's style of journalism.
Responsible for meeting revision schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
Signs off the ready pages to the Production Editor within set deadlines.
As a senior editor, contributes to the continuing development and improvement of MCL products.

Qualifications and Experience:
Academic: Basic University Degree in Journalism.
Professional: Post-graduate Diploma, or Diploma in Journalism.
Experience: 3 - 5 years journalistic working experience.
