Youth Challenge International is a leading global youth development organization that promotes youth innovation to drive positive change. Building on over 25 years of experience, YCI’s programs are designed to meet the needs of youth affected by poverty through four integrated sectors: leadership, health, livelihoods and the environment.
Reporting to the Tanzania Country Manager and based in Dar Es Salaam with frequent travel within Tanzania, the Fellow will support implementation of YCI’s Tanzania programs, including the volunteer program and program reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
Responsibilities will include:
Program Implementation/Development:
§ Support the implementation of program activities with a commitment to best practice in youth-focused programming;
§ Support the development and implementation of annual program work plans in collaboration with local partners, staff, youth, and YCI volunteers;
§ Collaborate with partners, YCI staff and volunteers to design and develop new programming opportunities including proposal development;
§ Ensure the implementation of YCI operational policies in YCI and partner offices;
§ Develop and maintain relationships with relevant organizations for collaboration and funding; and
§ Support the implementation of YCI and donor monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities.
Operations Management:
§ Provide support to Operations Officer providing oversight and support as needed in finance, logistics and administration;
§ Support development of all partner, donor and headquarters reporting and submit prior to deadline;
§ Support in-country security management and risk management;
§ Collaborate with staff to coordinate the volunteer program in Tanzania including preparations, orientation and debrief, and reporting
§ Facilitate field visits from YCI headquarters staff, donors and evaluators; and
§ All other duties assigned by the Country Manager.
Background and Qualifications:
- Degree in international development, community development, or relevant field;
- 3+ years of direct program and/or international development field experience required, preferably in the youth and/or community development sector;
- Proven facilitation and coordination skills;
- Knowledge of youth livelihoods context and trends;
- Knowledge of and interest in innovation considered an asset;
- High level of familiarity and comfort with financial management, staff management, donor reporting, budget development and M&E;
- Excellent communication, management, organizational and planning skills;
- Entrepreneurial self-starter with a hands-on approach;
- Flexibility, ability to work with minimal supervision, and strong inter-cultural skills required.
